For the last few weeks I’ve been hunting loads of places to get vintage items from. These have been chairs, to sofas even to vintage beds. I came across a Vintage beautiful 1930’s chandelier lamp. I am now wondering where I can get some shades for my chandelier from. After doing much research I found out, LOADS of information about, where to get Chandelier shades from, and where you can get them for fantastic bargain value (try the link).
There are many things about chandelier shades that I adore; firstly I would say that they really stand out in your room. Weather your room is a new contemporary style of an old vintage Victorian style, it is important to know that chandelier shades truly are the way forward if you want to have a great ceiling. The chandelier shades that you get can compliment a beautiful ceiling. Before I got my first chandelier shades nobody used to look at the wonderful craftsmanship and architecture on my ceiling, now people won’t stop talking about it. The reason for this is that the chandelier shades draw attention, from being big and bold. People then notice how great my ceiling looks, this has really given me more confidence in my craftsmanship skills and has really benefited the room.
The great thing about chandelier shades is that it also can make a room look more professional. I also have a Victorian office space, where I complete my work from. This space is more professional and when clients come in, they know they are dealing with a professional. This is purely from the chandelier shades that hang in my office. The room is big and the chandelier shades look great in the middle of my room. I have also got a smaller office in the same building, I have tried to put some chandelier shades in here but they don’t seem to work as well. I think this is because the room is a lot smaller. The chandelier shades in this room don’t compliment the boring ceiling that looks like your average office space. Instead it draws attention to how dry and bare everything else in the room is and does not look good at all. Another problem I have is that the chandelier shades make the room look a lot smaller. The second office that I tried to put the chandelier shades in does not have the enormous space that the first office does, although it is in the same building it is totally different. Therefore it is very small and crammed. When I put the chandelier shades in there, the chandelier shades totally take over the room (not in a good way), they do this by overshadowing the room even more and making it look even smaller than it already is. This is a lesson to anyone who may want to get some chandelier shades for any of their room. They look great, but if you have a room with a ceiling of a basement or cellar, then they may not work well for you.
My true opinion is that you can make chandelier shades look fantastic or you can make them looks horrible, depending on the context. By saying “context” I mean, where they are positioned in the room. If you have a room that is small, and the light is not centred to the room (imagine the light is on one side of the room) then this will simply not work, in most places. I have seen it work in some rooms and some people are creative enough to make their chandelier shades look absolutely awesome however, in many cases it does not work. However if you have your chandelier shades in a large room, with a centre light, then this will work great. When I say large room I don’t necessarily mean a room which is large on the ground space. I mean a room with a large ceiling many Victorian properties are like this. A lot of older buildings in general are like this, and this (in my opinion) is where the chandelier shades work best. There are obviously and infinite number of “in-betweens” when you are working with your rooms and chandelier shades. Chandelier shades can work in many medium sized rooms as well, I’ve even seen them work in rooms where the ceiling is quite low, and it has often had a desired effect. I think that if you truly want chandelier shades then you can make them work whatever your environment, you just have to have the confidence and patience. With these two strengths you can make your chandelier shades look great in your room or home.
I have often wondered why people will have a normal light shade in one room, and when I look in the other rooms they will have great chandelier shades. This often puzzles me, if you get chandelier shades you should take the time to get some for the other rooms. When I first got my first chandelier shades, I couldn’t afford to get some for more of the other rooms, However I tried to get more when I had more money, as I saved up I got chandelier shades for each of the accompanying rooms in my house. I would recommend anyone to do this, as it can make your house look a lot better than not doing it. Who know how good your house could look with chandelier shades all over your property, there is only one way to find out.
Overall I would say that chandelier shades will make any home look a lot better, and if used in the right way it can make a small home, or a large home look a lot better (regardless of the size of your ceiling). Take a good look around at places that you can get chandelier shades before you invest in them. There are many places that do chandelier shades half price, and many places that you can get great discounts on chandelier shades. Just take a look around and you will find some fantastic and great chandelier shades.
